Founder of Colbie and Lou
I am a mommy to two Wonderful little girls: Lennon and Colbie! They are where the name Colbie and Lou come from. We call Lennon “Lennon Lou” and Colbie had not yet been born when my husband and I started talking about me changing career paths. About a week after we started discussing ideas and ways for me to be home with our girls, Colbie turned everything upside down! After being in and out of the hospital with preterm labor, I had an emergency C-section and Colbie was born 5 weeks early. She had some complications at birth and spent 2 weeks in the NICU before we finally got to bring her home to meet her 3 year old sister. After these experiences, we knew the best thing for our family was for me to quit my job as an RN so I could invest more of myself into our little family, and I haven’t looked back!
Although I did enjoy my job being a nurse, I felt I wasn’t being fulfilled and something was missing. I wanted to spend more time with Lennon and her soon-to-be sister, and I missed having opportunities to create and design. As I have gotten older, I realized I have a passion for interior design, decorating, and gardening. My family and friends refer to me as the go-to person for designing spaces, increasing functionality, and bringing life to outdoor spaces, so maybe I can help others achieve their design dreams too!
My blog is dedicated to all the mothers out there who feel like there is no end to the chaos. These posts are meant to be a breath of fresh air from the mundane, survival mode of motherhood, affordable and achievable ideas to inspire the designer within, and light the spark of joy and peace that gardening can bring!
